Christian Family Rejected by Village

In the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh State, India, Christians face increasing pressure and violence for following Christ. Hema; her 16-year-old daughter, Chanda; and her 13-year-old son, Manish, are the only believers in their village since coming to faith in Christ two years ago. Village neighbors repeatedly tried to force them to reconvert to Hinduism, but they remained strong in the Lord, so the village excommunicated them. They are cut off from the village water supply and cannot graze their cattle on common fields. Threats were even made against Manish’s life. Chanda went to the police to seek protection and get her brother out of the village to safety. She and her mother remain in the village. Chanda said, “As long as I live, I will follow Jesus.” Pray for this family’s protection, encouragement and faith.
