Church in Tripoli Faces Eviction
Libya
The Union Church of Tripoli, one of five Christian denominations recognized by the Libyan government, has worshiped in the same church building for over fifty years. The building was rented from the former governmental regime on land that the government had expropriated because of its proximity to the seat of government. Recently, a governmental committee decided to return the land and buildings to the descendants of the original owners, who have now filed a court case for eviction of the church, which serves as home to four Protestant congregations with Christians from many nationalities. Pray for the leadership of these congregations to know the peace of God while they await the court’s decision. Pray that the church will be able to secure a new location within their financial means before being evicted.
