Four Families Pressured by Authorities
Laos
Four Christian families in one village in the Luang Prabang area of Laos have experienced increasing persecution since placing their faith in Christ in 2021. Village leaders have mocked them, threatened to lock them into their homes, and cut them off from community resources and government aid if they do not renounce Christ. These believers have remained faithful amid mounting pressure. On Jan. 23, police came to seize one family’s registration book, a common tactic used to oppress Laotian Christians because these official books contain a family’s vital records as well as education and professional documents. Without a family registration book, even basic services such as medical care become difficult to access.
