Session 5The Pastor’s Wife

Like her husband, Sabina Wurmbrand had a compelling calling to share the love of Christ with everyone she could. Even the dire consequences that likely would come because of political circumstances could not stop her.

When we think of going on the offensive and living out our faith without reservation, we often think of doing something big that gets a lot of attention. Sabina's efforts to advance God's kingdom weren't like that. Instead, she offered continual expressions of God's love and faithfulness to people in every circumstance she could.

  • What did you think when you realized the risks Sabina took in order to share just a few words of encouragement from God's Word with other prisoners?
  • What do you think inspires some Christians to reject a passive perseverance and go on the offensive, actively living out their faith no matter what the consequences?
  • Were Sabina's "small" acts any less of a victory for advancing God's kingdom? Explain.
  • What do you think host Cole Richards meant when he said that we are always victorious when we act intentionally on God's behalf?

As we close Session 5, pause and pray.

  • Ask God to help you see some 'small things' you can be faithful in that will advance the kingdom of God in your family, friendships, and with those you may have yet to meet.
  • Commit to Him that you will be an 'ambassador for Christ' as you live more boldly, relying on the power and presence of the Holy Spirit in your life.
